Colon is commonly known as the large intestine and hence is a very vital part of the digestive system. Any blockage in this part can be very harmful or the body because decreases the power of body to absorb the nutrients and also it creates problems in digestion.
The Fiber Aid to good Digestion
Foods which are rich in fiber can provide great aid for this problem and restore the good conditions for a digestive system. Cleansing action is performed naturally by the body when we consume roughages and fibrous foods. These foods act as the cleansing agents and perform the cleaning action of intestine. Hence they must be included in daily diet. A lack of such contents in the diet can cause serious problems such as the improper movement of bowel which cause the problem in exit of waste materials.
So these fibers must be included in the daily diet along with the proteins, carbohydrates, and other nutrients. They must be about 25-30 gm consumed in daily diet. But water also plays a significant role in the bowel movement and exit of waste material. Because the fibers help increasing the absorption power of nutrients inside the body. Also the nutrients get dissolved in water; hence there should not be lack of water in body. Thus water together with the fibrous food and roughages help in the removal of waste products
Chia Seeds
Selvia hispenica is a plant of mint family and chia seeds are obtained from this plant. They may be eaten raw or used in a number of dishes upon baking. Chia seeds are having high content of omega-3 fatty acids. A very famous dish of it is chia fresca originated from Mexico.
- First of all we mix aona tablespoon of these chia seeds in the drinking water taken about 250 ml. and allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes. This is done so as to allow chia seeds to absorb the water, by doing so the chia seeds fiber content which is soluble in water can get dissolved and the chia seeds with water absorbed are easy to digest and they perform the best in the condition.
- Now by mixing the chia seed in yogurt is one another way of consuming these seeds. It goes almost unnoticeable that way. About one teaspoon of seeds is enough for about 8 ounces of yogurt. Chia seeds will remove the body waste accumulated in the colon part and thus help the cause.
- For proper portioning of this seeds in the body we should consume them about three times a day and should continue so for about two weeks. This will help to clean out the tracts and the colon and assist the regularity there.
- But for each individual, proper dosage must be decided only after consulting with the physician.
Although the chia seeds are high on fibrous content, they have some disadvantages such as they may cause gas and intestinal bloat problems. If it happens then simply its dosage should be reduced.
